Every gold jewelry piece passes through multiple skilled stages before reaching your store. Understanding the manufacturing process helps retailers appreciate the craftsmanship, communicate value to customers, and make informed OEM/ODM decisions. Step 1: Design and CAD Modeling
The process begins with design. Our in-house designers create concepts based on trends, customer requests, or OEM/ODM specifications. Designs are translated into precise 3D CAD models that customers can review and modify before production. CAD models ensure accuracy and allow virtual previews of the finished piece. For custom orders, this step is collaborative — we work with you to perfect the design.
Step 2: Wax Pattern and Casting
3D-printed wax patterns are created from CAD models. Multiple wax patterns are attached to a sprue tree, invested in plaster, and baked to remove wax. Molten gold (10K, 14K, or 18K) is centrifugally or vacuum-cast into the mold. After cooling, the plaster is removed, revealing rough gold castings. Our casting process ensures dense, porosity-free castings for quality and durability.
Step 3: Filing and Assembly
Castings are filed, ground, and smoothed to remove casting imperfections. Components (bands, settings, connectors) are assembled and soldered. Ring sizes are adjusted. This stage requires skilled craftsmanship — improper assembly leads to weak joints and premature failure. Holycome's assemblers have years of experience and follow strict quality standards.
Step 4: Stone Setting
Master setters place gemstones (moissanite, diamonds, CZ) into settings using various techniques: prong, bezel, pavé, channel, and flush setting. Each stone is checked for security and proper alignment. Setting is critical — loose stones are the top cause of returns. Our setters verify every stone with 10x magnification before passing to polishing.
Step 5: Polishing and Finishing
Pieces go through multiple polishing stages: tumbling (initial smoothing), hand polishing (high shine), and buffing (mirror finish). Polishing removes scratches, smooths edges, and brings out the metal's luster. For white gold, rhodium plating is applied after polishing for a bright white finish. Each piece is inspected for polish quality and smoothness.
Step 6: Quality Control
Every piece passes through multiple QC checkpoints: stone security (tug test + magnification), metal quality (no porosity, smooth solder joints), finish (even polish, no sharp edges), sizing accuracy, and overall appearance. Only pieces passing all checks move to packaging. Our QC team rejects approximately 3-5% of production, ensuring you receive only quality pieces.
Step 7: Packaging and Shipping
Finished pieces are packaged with certification (GRA for moissanite), care cards, and branded packaging (custom available). Orders are inspected again before shipping. We offer express shipping (5-7 days) and sea freight (15-30 days) with tracking. OEM/ODM orders include production photos for your records.
